Foreign Language Interpreters

Business negotiation, public presentation or social interaction in a global setting often demands consecutive, simultaneous and whispering styles of interpretation to help you communicate more effectively. Your focus is on your message, and it’s crucial that a language interpreter have not only your trust, but your confidence.

On-site or on the phone, PALS INTERNATIONAL’s foreign language interpreters give critical context to the words you say and hear. Thoroughly familiar with culture, customs and rules of etiquette, our experienced foreign language interpreters have distinguished credentials in their respective fields. Many are certified by the reputable American Translators Association or the Fèdèration Internationale des Traducteurs.

Types of Interpretation Offered

Phone Interpretation meets the need for spontaneous, unscheduled access to an interpreter over the phone. Immediate 24/7 access to over 150 languages supported by over 1,000 professional, certified linguists within an average connect time of 30 seconds

Consecutive Interpretation is usually “live” (or bi-lateral) where the interpreter is one of the members in the room and only two languages are at work. The interpretation is conducted in segments where the interpreter interprets during pauses by the speakers in both directions. Common settings include court hearings, depositions, doctor visits, small informal meetings, etc.

Simultaneous Interpretation is very fast-paced and requires a high level of concentration; and, therefore, a team of two interpreters is used where they alternate every 15 minutes. The interpreter listens to the source language and seconds later interprets into the target language while the speaker continues to speak. The interpreter(s) may be located elsewhere, isolated in a booth with headphones and a microphone – and possibly not visible to the audience – yet heard through the use of simultaneous equipment.

Whispering Interpretation requires the same skill as simultaneous interpretation and should only be used for short meetings involving a very small number of languages. Whispering is used when only one or two delegates require assistance. The interpreter can sit next to the delegates and whisper the required language.
