Board Member Biographies



Mr. Jesse Lopez



Jesse Lopez is President, CEO and founder of MARISA Industries, Inc. MARISA Industries, Inc. is based in the Detroit metropolitan area. It has locations in Auburn Hills and Centerline Michigan. Since its inception 16 years ago MARISA Industries, Inc. has grown from a provider of engineering, technical training and IT services to a world-class supplier of components for the automotive industry.

MARISA Industries, together with its subsidiary BAE Industries, has grown to be one of the largest privately held 200 companies in Michigan as listed by “Crain’s Detroit”. MARISA Industries is also listed as one of the largest Hispanic-owned companies in Michigan by “Crain’s Detroit” as well as being listed as one of the 100 largest Hispanic-owned companies in the nation by “Hispanic Business Magazine”

Mr. Lopez’s business experience has led him to serve as a Director and Secretary for the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Director for PALS INTERNATIONAL (a privately held for profit company), a Director for MARIAH Industries, Inc. (a midsize privately held for profit company), an Advisor for Ford Motor Company’s Hispanic Advisory Council and an Advisor for DTE Energy’s Hispanic Advisory council. Mr. Lopez is also an active member in the Hispanic Business Alliance, the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic Automotive Supplier Alliance.

Mr. Lopez has been actively involved in the community from support and hosting of philanthropic events to active participation in direct delivery of services. His involvement over the years has led him to serve as a Trustee for Kettering University, a Director and Trustee for the Southeastern Chapter of the American Red Cross and a Trustee for Casa Maria Family Services.

Mr. Lopez received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Detroit and over the years has received numerous awards and acknowledgements for his community involvement and success as a businessman.

Mr. Scott Thornton



Scott is a marketing, advertising and communications executive with diverse experience in private and public companies servicing retail, automotive, media, public utility, communications, food service and manufacturing. He has recognized accomplishments in corporate and product business and brand management with international and domestic applications.

Scott is currently the founder and CEO of Consolidated Purchasing Partners, an international business specializing in delivering cost efficient print bid and production solutions to small and mid-sized businesses. Scott is also the founder and partner in RTV Communications Group, a holding company that holds eight diverse and highly experienced communications related firms, that as an integrated resource, delivers an unprecedented level of skills and capabilities to their clients.

Scott recently planned and implemented the combination of six global ad agencies into one, forming a global structure and capability unique in the industry. Scott was ultimately responsible for all worldwide agency activity for 13 business units of DaimlerChrysler and the highly successful integration of 22 Omnicom support companies into the world’s largest single advertising and marketing account.

Scott established and led a 46-office international network serving 105 countries including Canada and Mexico. The positioning and implementation efforts for the Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and Corporate brands and their dealers, Mopar, DaimlerChrysler Services, Mercedes-Benz Parts and Services, Owner Communications, Incentives, Public Relations and the complete agency activity supporting the merger of The Chrysler Corporation and Daimler-Benz.

Over his career Scott has also held the following positions

  • Managing Partner - Foote Cone Belding
  • Managing Partner - Bozell Worldwide
  • President and General Manager, Canada – CME•KHBB
  • Senior Vice President - Saatchi Saatchi
  • Various agency leadership and managerial positions at Young & Rubicam, Compton and Grey Advertising

    Mr. Thornton received his BA in communications and political science in 1976 from Western Michigan University and has completed several postgraduate courses in business management.

    Scott has been highly involved with the American Red Cross for over 10 years. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the South Eastern Michigan Chapter. Additional volunteer positions have been; Financial Development, Marketing and Business Development Committees and Chairman of their State Communications Committee. Along with serving on the Board of Directors of PALS INTERNATIONAL, Scott has been a committee member for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and served on the Marketing Advisory Board of the Wayne State School of Business Administration.
